ABOUT THE AUTHOR
D. Kirk Wolgamott
ATTORNEY. STORYTELLER.
Kirk was born and raised in Curtis, Nebraska, a small farming community in the southwest corner of the state and home of the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture. His father, Lloyd “Gus” Wolgamott, owned and operated a Standard Oil gas station. His mother, Hilda, was an elementary school teacher who shifted to school librarian, where Kirk developed a love of books and reading.
He attended Medicine Valley Junior Senior High School, where he became football player of the year, a district track champion, and winner of the Bacherman Award, presented to the outstanding senior.
From there, he went to Lincoln and the University of Nebraska’s Teachers College, majoring in Social Studies with an emphasis in English. He served as President of the Nebraska Student Education Association and graduated with honors.
Then it was off to Willamette University in Salem, Oregon, and law school. He clerked for a private firm, Oregon Inmate Legal Services, and the Oregon Attorney General on the way to earning his juris doctorate (JD).
